Abandoned Farm

These pictures were taken last month along Bethel Road in Fincastle...

Driving along Bethel Road we noticed this abandoned farm so we parked and got out to walk around...we had to cross a little bridge and there was a "No Trespassing" sign which made me nervous but there was nobody around and obviously nobody lives here...we weren't too intrusive, just took some pictures from a distance...this yellow bench seems like a strange fit with the falling down house...but I thought it was neat!

Not really sure what this structure is/was...do you have any ideas?

Anyone need to use the bathroom? ;)

A little barn?

Dalton & Kaile...that's the bridge we had to cross...

Blue Ridge

This is the view from my driveway this morning...it's a rainy-ish grey day but look at that red tree blooming over there to the right would ya?!! Every day brings a little more color! That mountain straight ahead is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway runs right through there...it's a pretty way to get places!

1)
Yesterday was Ozzy's Birthday! He turned 7! You're never too old to chew on a good stick!

2)
Braden is competing in States for the 55 and the 4x200 relay on Saturday! It is being held at Roanoke College...the above picture was taken at Heritage High School last month...

3) Last weekend Nick was flipping through the tv channels and came across a cooking show called Cookin' Cheap ...it was filmed here in Roanoke in the early to mid 80's...oh my gosh, we laughed so hard...this was a great little cooking show...you'll have to see if you can stream it...we found it on PBS...

4) The last few times I've downloaded pics from my camera they just kind of disappear into my computer...I know I saw them download but now I can't find them...have you ever had this happen to you? So frustrating! I do however need to clean out the old archives...soooo many pictures that are just sitting there taking up space...

5)
Going back in time to March of 2011 when we first got Ozzy...ahhhh would you look at my 2 babies! Ashlyn was in 11th grade then and Ozzy only about 6 weeks old!

That's my 5 for the week! I hope you will join in! Post 5 randoms, link back and visit others!! Have a great weekend friends!!

Work In Progress

Spec/Lithia . Botetourt County

This place is up the road from the old truck I showed you yesterday...a man driving by said that this was the old stagecoach road and this house was the inn or hotel back then...someone lives there now...it looks like they are adding on!

Today I am thankful for this great spring-like weather we have been having this week...I don't want it to end...but like all good things, it will...but it will be back! Right now I have the door open listening to the birds...I saw Daffodils blooming yesterday and Forsythia...it won't be long till the Redbuds, Dogwoods and Pear Trees bloom! Unknown General Store

Nace . Botetourt County

I can't find anything on this other than someone else had taken a few pictures and had it labeled as "Abandoned General Store" and that the locals said the floors are collapsing so no one has been in there for years...

These pictures were taken on a very cold day last month!

The Partridge Family Bus

Inkular Gallery . 25286 VH Goode Hwy . Boones Mill . 24065

Taking you back to September of 2017...I forgot to show this neat bus to you...we were just driving along when I saw it and asked Nick to turn back around so I could get a picture...there was no place to really pull over (unless we had stopped at the gallery, which I didn't know what it was at the time so we didn't...guess I didn't notice the sign at the time haha)...but it made me think of the bus from the Partridge Family!...

I had a Partridge Family lunch box in about 1st grade...man I wish I still had that!

One last quick shot!

Willy Nilly Friday 5 No. 161

Sorry I missed last week's Willy Nilly! I had planned on doing a whole Willy Nilly dedicated to Braden and Dalton since it was their 16th Birthday but just ran out of time....sooooo....do you mind if I do it today? Of course you don't haha...So, here we go, the Willy Nilly Friday 5 Braden and Dalton Edition!

1) The first time I introduced you to Braden and Dalton was waaaayyyy back in 2008!

Since then they have been regular little fixtures on my blog...many of you watching them grow up right before your very eyes! The first post is about a local wrestling event that we went to back when we were living in Monroe, Georgia...you can see that post RIGHT HERE

2) Here they are on their 7th Birthday!

Would you look at those faces?!!! That is Braden on the left and Dalton on the right...by the way, Dalton wasn't that much bigger, just the way they were sitting!
You can read that post RIGHT HERE

3) 2010 must have been a rough year for me because I posted less then 100 posts for the whole year!! What?! But I did see this one of the boys:

Here they are running in the Fincastle Run...an event that happens each year...I thought this was fitting because as I get this post ready on Thursday afternoon they are headed to Liberty University with their track team to compete in the district championships tonight...they won't be home until about 1:00 a.m.! Good luck to the Lord Botetourt track team! You can read the original post RIGHT HERE

4) Birthday 2011:

The whole fan damily right here! My oldest Ashlyn and oldest son Christian present! That year the boys picked Golden Corral for their birthday dinner...this year they picked Kabuki (a Japanese, cook at your table place...my how tastes change!) but we haven't made it yet with crazy schedules...we'll make it eventually! It used to be so much easier getting everyone together!...you can read this Birthday post RIGHT HERE ...also wondering if that meme is still around!

5) This is 16!

So on their birthday I had invited Ashlyn and Christian over with their boyfriend/girlfriend plus Kaile (Dalton's girlfriend) over for pizza and cake...introductions left to right: Braden, Christian, Madeline, Dalton, Kaile, Ashlyn and Ozzy front and center...bonus points for those that knew who everyone was!

Thanks for reading and joining in!! You know the drill by now...post 5 randoms...link back and visit others!! Also thank you for allowing me to wallow in my sadness over my children growing up hahaha

Have a great weekend...while I was putting this post together, reading old posts from the beginning, I was reminded of how awesome blogging is, at least if you are blogging about something meaningful to you...I might not have gotten a ton of comments here and there, or became a famous blogger but going back and reading from the beginning...I was reminded of memories I had forgotten <3

Botetourt County...

...more from my icy backyard on Sunday...can we just move on to Spring now?

Today I'm thankful for good people taking chances on teens! Braden and Dalton just got jobs! They will be working at a local pizza place...the man that hired them had also hired Ashlyn for her first job when she turned 16! He always joked with me that he would hire the boys when they were old enough to work...I say "joked" because it seemed like a loooonnnngggg time away...sigh...anyways...I think it's pretty cool that they both will be working there! They are excited to start making their own money!

Spec . Botetourt County

When we were out looking for the old abandoned cannery last month, we also found this neat old truck!

The miles this old truck must have travelled!

I can picture this parked on the side of the road on a summer day with the bed filled with produce for sale...a long time ago...

A part of a clue but I'm going to need a little more info that that!

It's almost camouflaged in there...

Can We Just Get a Good Snow??? Please???!!!

Botetourt County

For a couple of weeks the weather people have been talking about this past weekend's snow potential..."this could give us several inches" they said..."this will be a substantial storm with accumulating snow" they said...then cue the rain and we ended up with a slushy, icy mess...so annoying! We got a snow day out of it today but I would love to see something more than a dusting or ice! See, Ozzy isn't even impressed...

Did you watch the Superbowl last night? We didn't really have a team in it this year but just assumed the Patriots would win so it was nice to see the Eagles get their first Superbowl win!

If you stopped by here for Willy Nilly on Friday I apologize for not getting it going...it was the boys 16th birthday and the morning/day/night got away from me!

Now I'm going to go watch the This Is Us finale...I already know this is going to kill me!
