SkyWatch Friday

More grey skies for my skywatch photo this week. Yesterday I went to Lynchburg with Braden and Dalton's class to
Amazement Square. What a fun time we all had! This was taken outside, getting ready to board the bus to go home. Can you see my two little guys? Hint, they are wearing blue shirts, lol.

This morning, Christian's bus was involved in yet another accident. Can you believe it? He was just about to board the bus when all of a sudden, it lurched forward. A young girl slammed into the back of it. What gets me is that the bus puts her lights on way before she even stops, this should catch people's attention, yet it doesn't. None of the kids were hurt thank goodness, but my goodness people, slow down and pay attention. This also happens to fall on the 6 year anniversary of the death of a sweet little boy that rode my kids bus in Missouri. He was hit and killed while crossing the road to get on his school bus. The bus's stop arm was out, but the girl driving didn't even slow down when she ran right through it and hit him. My thoughts and prayers are with this family today, as always.

  1. Great picture, it makes the museum look like so much fun.

Unbelievable about the accidents. That's just awful. So sad about that little boy also. There was a little girl killed here years ago walking to school. She was hit in a cross walk, the person couldn't see because of the angle of the sun. Last week when I was dropping off J&J, someone backed into me. He explained he couldn't see, because of the sun. I couldn't believe that if that were the case, he just kept backing. Right in front of the school, in the drop off lane, for Pete's sake. A kid could have been hit instead of my van.

    Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Looks like a fun field trip, even if the skies were drag. I cannot even believe someone hitting a bus. What are people doing??

  5. Oh yes! I see the two boys, the one on the right looks like he is dancing and having a rockin' good time.

It is sad about the accidents, but it is great that most people obey the school bus laws and stop. Just that select few who muddy up the waters and make such sadness for the ones who get hurt or as you stated die.

  7. That's terribly sad about the little boy and I am so glad no one was hurt in this latest one. I follow them all the time around here as we have an elementary school in the neighborhood and also a high school. Just got to be aware.

    Great photo!

  8. Cool looking sidewalk structure. I would have been tempted to climb on it.

  9. So often it's teenagers who hit buses or kids. Beginning drivers just don't pay attention - I remember being far more interested in the radio than the road. And we didn't even have cell phones or texting to distract us!

Your boys crack me up! That line of girls patiently waiting to board the bus, and the boys are all screwing around, being physical. So typical - 30 years from now during an office building fire drill, it'll be the same exact scene. LOL!

  10. Oh, I love San Diego Farmgirl's comments and agree entirely. I, too, noticed how active the boys were in contrast to the girls.

What a heartbreaking loss. I feel so sorry for everyone involved. If only we could all pay just a little more attention to what we're doing.

  12. Sounds like there needs to be flashing lights or something for that bus stop.

  15. A little boy was killed in our grade school just last month because of something similar. And to think that the driver was a mom of another grade school boy! You'd think she would be more aware of the consequences of her actions :(

    Fun-looking sculpture though.

  16. I'm glad you had fun and wish the weather had been better!

So sad. We have the same problem with idiots not paying attention to the buses. Geez!

  17. Hilda, after that accident in Missouri, the bus drivers started carrying police officers on the bus for a while to report all the people who do run stop arms and I was surprised that most offenders were moms with their own kids in the car! Shameful!

  18. I think if people don't often drive when school buses on picking up children, they aren't as aware of what they are supposed to do. I'd like to see more pr about what to do when school buses stop...not that that excuses any drivers! If they have a license, they should know.

  19. I agree RR...they really should cover this more, make people more aware of what to do when they see a bus!
