The Train, The Train!

The train rolling along Tinker Creek. One of these days I'm going to remember to take the kids out to the track and place coins. I remember doing that as a kid when my Great Uncle's train went through, he was an engineer.

And thanks Marley for the BFF Award, how sweet of you! Thank you again :)

Now it is my turn to give the award to other deserving bloggers following these rules:
1. Only five people are allowed.
2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog.
3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world.
4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

After much consideration the awards go to:

Jim Terrel, TX

Rambling Round, Selma, Al

Hope, Knoxville, TN

WebRadio,Pays de la Mée France

David, Tamarindo, Costa Rica

I know that not everyone likes passing awards on, and that's fine. Take some time to visit these worthy winners, especially if you've not been there before.

  3. Thanks so much for the award, Tanya! That's so very nice! I will pass it along to others as well. I like this post and the photo about the train. I grew up near a rail line and have lots of memories of playing around the tracks. Dangerous, I know! Those were good childhood years!

  6. Thank you very much for the award. I have been foing my Daily Photo site for Costa Rica only since last summer, so I appreciate knowing that others have enjoyed it.

By the way, I was pleased to see your photos posed a few weeks ago showing that you enjoyed a hike on the Appalachian Trail. In the 1970's I worked as the Legislative Director for the late Congressman Goodloe Byron of Maryland. While he was in the Maryland state legislature, he sponsored a law to preserve the Maryland section of the Appalachian Trail, and in Congress he sponsored the 1978 law to preserve the Appalachian Trial in all states. Prior to that time, it was left to private landowners and each state to allow their land to be used for the trail, and if landowners, local governments or states in one area blocked or discontinued the trail, that would disrupt the use of the trial by those hiking long distances, including those going from Maine to Georgia.

  7. I Love Trains...
The low angle gives the shot a lot of drama. Very cool shot.

  8. I love this picture. As Eric said, "the low angle" makes it that much more interesting.

  9. Very nice train pic. I hope you weren't too close to the tracks!

My sister, brother and I used to put pennies on the track and come back later to pick them up. They do look neat all smashed up.

  11. Thanks guys and thanks Marie, my favorite is of Braden and Dalton too :) They are a couple of my favorite subjects, lol.

Very interesting to know that David. My husband is off today and went hiking on another part of the AT. I'm anxious to hear about it when he gets back!

Mo, if you put a coin on the track, when the train runs over it, it's all flattened out. It looks pretty cool! I'll take a picture ;)

  13. Your welcome for your award!

I'm glad Mo asked the question, I was wondering! It looks like you were lying down at the side of the tracks for this photo!

  16. The era of the train is long past in the US, or so it seems. I remember watching the trains pass and wishing I were on it. Guess I still wish for the golden days of train service here. Good photo, incidentally. Creates memories!
